A Breakdown of the Services

Crisis Communications Programs are still forgein to many New Zealand organisations. Read on to understand how our programs work and whether they would be valuable to your objectives. If you still have questions, you can contact us any time.

Crisis Communications Readiness Review

Working with your communications and risk teams, RiskLogic will assess your reputational risks and current levels of communications preparedness. We critically evaluate any existing Crisis Communications Plans and the ability of your entire communications team to execute it effectively. We review the crisis capability among your communications team and the suitability of your policies and procedures. Where gaps are identified, we provide recommendations on how they can be filled to ensure your plan is at international best-practice.

Crisis Communications Plan

In collaboration with key stakeholders, RiskLogic will develop a robust Crisis Communications Plan that is both thorough and practical. The communications plan is populated with relevant assessment tools, stakeholder and channel lists, team structures and reporting lines, as well as approved key messages. The plan is pragmatic, user friendly and ensures a strategic, methodical and thorough response.

Crisis Communications Training

When the Crisis Communications Plan is endorsed, RiskLogic trains all members of the Crisis Communications team to utilise it. Using our unique Hourglass training model, RiskLogic will show the team how to formulate the appropriate communication strategy that meets the needs of the Executive and the wider Crisis Management Team.

Our training sessions are interactive allowing team members to become familiar with their roles and responsibilities and those of their colleagues. They will learn how to use the templates, tools and checklists. Often, we’ll recommend this training to include staff from other business units and areas who may take over certain roles at a later stage.

Crisis Communications Exercises and Drills

Participating in highly realistic, hands-on exercise scenarios reinforces and embeds the roles and responsibilities of all members of the Crisis Communications Team, including the cross-functional support staff seconded from other business units.

Guided by our expert facilitators, the exercise uses interactive injects from media, social media and other stakeholders. RiskLogic’s facilitators test the team’s ability to use the Crisis Communications Plan to respond effectively.

I was shocked what was uncovered in those last few questions by RiskLogic. The scenario showed the team how serious this all is.

In these exercises, you can:

  • Hone your skills in a safe environment
  • Learn from mistakes and identify gaps
  • Get infront of real cameras and conduct a TV interview with the CEO or relevant person
  • Provide valuable practice in a high-pressure scenario

Media Training

We are yet to meet a CEO or spokesperson who is perfect at handling the intense media scrutiny that comes with a crisis. It is a performance art that requires regular practice and continual improvement.

RiskLogic’s hands-on crisis communications media training takes your spokespeople to the next level of preparedness. We tailor the training to stretch them beyond their existing experience, using realistic crisis scenarios they could potentially face in the future.

Crisis Communications Rapid Response

When a crisis hits, RiskLogic can embed one of our crisis communications experts to assist and guide your Crisis Communications Team. We provide your communications leader with a crucial sounding board for her/his strategic and tactical decision making, ensuring the response is rolled out methodically and to maximum effect. This service can be activated as a video conference, a series of phone calls or as an onsite presence at a half or full day rate.

Mini drills

Over and above exercises, we provide Crisis Communication Mini Drills

Performed 4-6 times a year, Mini Drills are a series of short exercises tasked without notice to the Communications Team to ensure they can quickly perform critical actions in the Crisis Communications Plan, at any given moment.

Post-Incident Review

It is critical that a review of the effectiveness of the client’s communication strategy is conducted as soon as possible after the event. RiskLogic has the experience and insight to ensure this is done accurately, objectively and constructively, not personally. Working with your team, we analyse what worked well, address any gaps and recommend follow-up actions to maximise performance next time.
